Using Microsoft Access™ I am able to develop software in almost half the time a Visual Basic (or similar programming language) application would take. For all but the biggest databases this works just fine. Plus for added performance, Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL can be used for the data storage part of a custom application. Microsoft Access is the most cost effective relational database solution I have found for small to medium sized businesses.
